The Minister of Transport- Abdul Wahhab Al-Durra, affirmed that the humanitarian situation in Yemen has worsened due to the unjust and illegal blockade imposed on Sana'a International Airport by the US-Saudi aggression coalition and its mercenaries in Aden.

The Minister of Transport stated, during a meeting that included the Minister of Public Works and Roads- Ghaleb Mutlaq, and the Director of the Office of the UN Representative- Roxana Bazarjan, that the aggression deliberately and directly multiplied the suffering of the Yemeni people, including patients, by reducing the number of flights to the only destination represented in Jordan, from six to three flights per week, without any justification, despite being scheduled regularly on Yemen Airways flights.

The Office of the UN Representative urged the other party to presurize the need to return the six flights to relieve the current pressure on travel tickets by citizens, especially patients, as well as the speedy opening of other destinations without procrastination.

The Minister Al-Durra also stressed on the need to allow international airlines to operate flights through Sana'a International Airport to several international destinations in accordance with the international laws and conventions, stressing the need to open new destinations of importance to the Yemeni citizen, such as Cairo, India and others, as a legal right.

In turn, the Minister of Public Works and Roads affirmed that Sana'a International Airport provides its humanitarian services to all the Yemeni people, especially patients who suffer from serious diseases that are difficult to treat in the country as a result of the aggression and blockade.

He also considered the full opening of Sana'a airport a humanitarian necessity to save the lives of patients from certain death, and to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

While the Director of the Office of the UN Representative pointed out to the importance of opening Sana'a airport to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, including the sick, pointing out that the UN representative is making great efforts to achieve this.

The meeting, which was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of CAMA- Dr. Muhammad Abdulkader, the Deputy of the Ministry of Transport for the Air Transport Sector- Abdullah Al-Ansi, the Acting Chairman of Yemeni Airlines- Khalil Jahaf, and the Director of Air Transport at CAMA- Dr. Mazen Ghanem, discussed the suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of the blockade and aggression, and the possibility of opening destinations and new flights to a number of countries, and the return of flights that have been reduced without justification.
