Minister of Transport: The Coalition Aggression Is Still Delaying the Operation of Flights from Sana'a Airport towards to Cairo and India

The Minister of Transport- Major General/ Abdel Wahhab Al-Durra stressed that the coalition aggression is still delaying the operation of flights from Sana'a Airport to Cairo and India.

In a statement to Al-Masirah channel on 15th of March 2023, Major General/ Al-Durra said: “We made all efforts to block the pretexts and operate flights from Sana’a airport to Cairo and India, but unfortunately the coalition aggression is still procrastinating.”

He also explained that the scheduling of flights to Cairo was suspended at the last moments, blaming the Aggression Alliance for being the operator of its mercenaries inside Yemen.

The Major General Al-Durra indicated that Yemenia Airlines is concerned with providing clarifications to the public opinion about the reasons for not operating the destinations of India and Cairo and vacating its yard as a last chance.

The Minister of Transport pointed out that 3 flights per week to a single destination (Sana'a - Amman) do not meet the need, especially for patients who cannot be treated at home after 8 years of blockade and aggression.

For his part, the Director General of Sana'a International Airport- Khaled Al-Shayef, confirmed that Sana'a Airport is still under siege, and is almost closed, with the exception of a single restricted and limited travel destination.

Al-Shayef told Al-Masirah: “There is no seriousness on the part of the aggression coalition regarding what was agreed upon in terms of increasing the number of flights to Jordan and opening new destinations from Sanaa airport.”

He also pointed out that the flights to Jordan represent only 10% of what was agreed upon, noting that 5 destinations had been agreed upon during the existing de-escalation period until this moment.

Khaled Al-Shayef explained that Sana'a Airport, despite the blockade, is technically ready to operate flights, reiterating that the disruption is political by the aggression coalition.
