CAMA Organizes Honoring Ceremony on the Occasion of International Labor Day

The Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority (CAMA) and its Sectors organized on 3rd of May 2023 an honoring ceremony on the occasion of International Labor Day.

At the ceremony, the Minister of Transport- Abdulwahab Yahya Al-Durra praised the efforts of the leaders and workers of the ministry, its authorities and corporations, engineers and technicians in the Civil Aviation Authority and its sectors, and their role in continuing work and technical operational readiness under the continuous bombardment of the aggression, especially at Sana'a International Airport.

He also stressed that the professional and technical workers in the transport sectors thwarted the plans of the aggression to paralyze air, sea and land transport, indicating that the aggression coalition targeted the transport sectors due to its realization of its importance in providing humanitarian services.

He pointed to the importance of reviving the International Workers' Day because of the connotations it bears in highlighting the militant role of the workers and their steadfastness during the past eight years, despite the aggression targeting all the life and infrastructure of the Yemeni people.

The Minister also urged to make more efforts and double the work during the next stage in construction and reconstruction of what was destroyed by the aggression in the different transport facilities and sectors, and to re-operate the airports of Taiz, Hodeidah and Sa'ada.

He called for the opening of Sana'a International Airport to all the civil flights and to multiple the destinations through Yemeni, Arab and international airlines as it was before the aggression, considering that it is a right of the Yemeni people and not a favor or grant from anyone.

The Minister of Transport also indicated that international shipping lines have resumed their activity and work through Hodeidah seaport, pointing to the need for international airlines to resume their work through Sana'a International Airport to reduce burdens on the Yemenis, provide alternatives and competition between companies, and reduce traveler costs.

In turn, the Deputy Chairman of CAMA- Raed Jabal pointed out to the importance of celebrating the International Labor Day to remind the workers of Yemen and the employees of the Authority and its sectors, of the unparalleled steadfastness and stability in the different sectors.

He said: "We celebrate with the workers of the world, despite the exceptional situation imposed by the aggression since March 26th, 2015. The Yemeni people lived through its suffering that was met with steadfastness, sacrifice, and pride that defeated the tyrant and thwarted his plans."

Jabal also pointed out that the Civil Aviation Authority was able to maintain its technical operational readiness with the help of its technical workers, engineers and professionals who worked and remained steadfast under the bombing.

He added: "We continued to operate the Yemeni airports with supplies and equipment that were destroyed by the aggression coalition and besieged and prevented the entry of any equipment related to civil aviation in accordance with international standards, thanks to the efforts of engineers, technicians and workers in the authority and its sectors."

And he also stressed on the need to redouble the efforts and sharpen determination in the construction, reconstruction and development phase. He said: "We are facing an actual battle that began with re-readiness of the airports, including buildings, runways, navigational and meteorological stations, firefighting equipment, electricity and other equipment to operate airports in a better and modern manner."

Jabal appealed to the international community, organizations and partners in the field of air transport to unconditionally lift the ban on the Yemeni airports and airspace.

While the speech of the honorees was delivered by Lamis Farhan who emphasized on the continuation of work with high morale, expressing her thanks and appreciation to the leadership of the Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority for this honor, which will contribute to motivating the workers and raising their level of performance.

During the ceremony, which was attended by the Directors of Sana'a International Airport- Khaled Al-Shayef, the Institute of Civil Aviation and Meteorology- Dr. Naji Al-Sohmi, and the airports sector- Amin Joma'an, a reportage on the achievements of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority was presented.

At the end of the ceremony, a number of engineers and technicians working in the republic's airports and the authority's sectors were honored with certificates of appreciation and symbolic gifts.
