Minister of Transport and Public Works Reviews Progress of Work in the Meteorology Sector

On 26th August 2024, the Minister of Transport and Public Works- Muhammad Qohaim, and the Chairman of CAMA- Yahya Al-Sayani, reviewed the work progress of the methodology sector and the services it provides to all the categories of the Yemeni people.

They, along with the Authority’s Deputy Chairman- Arif Al-Ashram, listened from the Assistant Deputy Chairman for the Meteorology Sector- Engineer/ Muhammad Hamid, to an explanation of the progress of monitoring the exceptional weather situation that Yemen is experiencing during the current rainy season, and the efforts made by the sector in following up on this situation, which is distinguished from the previous years in terms of heavy rains.

Qohaim and Al-Sayani toured the departments affiliated with the sector, including the National Meteorology Center and Early Warning and its technical and technological systems and equipment.

The Minister of Transport and Public Works praised the role played by the National Meteorology Center and Early Warning by sending early warnings to the official authorities in the country, local authorities, and the general citizens.

He akso stressed on the interest of the political leadership and the government in the meteorological services and their keenness to develop these services.

On his part, the Chairman of CAMA explained that despite the good level of the National Meteorology Center in providing its services, it does not meet the ambitions required by the Yemen’s location in terms of geography, area and climate diversity.

He also stressed that one of the Authority's priorities in the next phase is to complete the equipment, conduct an intensive training program, and improve the technical staff so that the center becomes one of the advanced centers in the region.
