The Main Committee for the Lands and parameters of Sana'a International Airport, in its fourth meeting on 13th of May 2023, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security Affairs and Chairman of the Committee- Lieutenant General/ Jalal Al-Ruwaishan discussed aspects related to the execution of the directives of the President of the Supreme Political Council regarding preventing constructions in the lands and parameters of airports.
The committee reviewed, in the presence of the Minister of Transport, Vice-Chairman of the Committee- Abdul Wahhab Al-Durra, the Mayor of the Capital- Hammoud Obbad, the Deputy Minister of Justice- Dr. Ismail Al-Wazir, the Chairman of the General Authority for Lands- Dr. Hashim Al-Shami, and the Assistant Minister of Defense- Major General/ Ali Al-Kohlani, the proposals submitted by the Chairman of the Land Authority, including starting the works of fencing the sana’a airport parameter and approving the schemes and implementing them on reality and to prevent any constructions, as urgent steps to protect the territory and paramete of the airport.
The meeting also touched on the work plan of the main committee and the sub-committees during the coming period and the reports submitted by the sub-committee on what has been accomplished and the difficulties it faces, as well as the level of implementation of the outputs of the third meeting of the main committee and the extraordinary meeting with the representatives of the relevant authorities charged with protecting the sana’a airport parameter and the lands.
At the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security Affairs stressed on the rapid execution of the directives of the President of the Supreme Political Council, and the development of the necessary solutions and remedies for the existing problems.
He also pointed out the importance of working in a team spirit for the relevant authorities with the Civil Aviation Authority and Meteorology and implementing practical steps in a way that contributes to preserving the territory of the Sana'a Airport parameter and stopping any developments.
The Lieutenant General/ Al-Ruwaishan pointed out that the developments in the airport campus and lands hinder the process of development and modernization of future expansion plans. He also directed the Civil Aviation Authority and the Land Authority to work on finding the appropriate solutions in a way that contributes to speeding up the implementation process in the field to preserve the lands and campus of the airport, according to the engineering studies.
