CAMA Convenes Workshop On Voluntary Safety Reporting For Civil Aviation Security

CAMA convened a workshop on 10th October 2021 in Sana'a on voluntary reporting in civil aviation safety represented by the Aviation Safety and Security Affairs Sector. The workshop, which was attended by (180) officials from the different sectors of CAMA and Yemenia Airways aimed to encourage the aviation employees and citizens to use the voluntary communication via the electronic link cama.gov.ye when noticing any potential danger that may turn into an accident and disaster, in addition to exchanging information for what can be done to improve the air safety, establishing a database and spreading a positive safety culture.

In the workshop, the Minister of Transport- Amer Al-Marani stressed the keenness of the ministry and CAMA to enhance and develop the civil aviation and air navigation services provided to the international airlines that overfly the Republic of Yemen airspace, especially in the safety and security of civil aviation. He also referred to the coalition's aggression air piracy on the United Nations and International Humanitarian Organizations aircraft, and paralyzed the air traffic at Sana'a International Airport.

 

In turn, the Chairman of CAM- Dr. Mohammed Abdulkader stressed on the encouragement of citizens to report any danger that threatens the safety and security of aviation and to identify a database that improves the civil aviation safety. He indicated CAMA's endeavors to provide the best services through its cadres, technical and professional expertise, pointing out to the international certificate that Yemen had obtained with regard to ensuring air traffic safety, from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

 

For his part, the Asst. Deputy Chairman for Aviation Safety and Security Sector- Dr. Abdul Hamid Abu Taleb, indicated that holding this workshop comes in implementation and commitment to the decisions of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). He also said that the voluntary notification is of a great importance in ensuring the aviation safety and security and preserving the lives of passengers, indicating that the voluntary notification is strictly confidential.

 

Meanwhile, the workshop, which was attended by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport for Air Transport Sector- Abdullah Al-Ansi, the Acting Chairman of Yemenia Airways- Abdulmalik Mottahar, the Assistant Deputies Chairman for CAMA's Sectors and the Directors-General in CAMA, dealt with three main axles. The first axle includes a presentation about Annex 19 of ICAO, the second axle was about the Guidelines No. 57-CAAP, and the third one was about the sources and examples of voluntary notifications.

 

The workshop came out with a number of recommendations, including the adoption of training courses for the aviation safety culture, voluntary notifications, disseminating the brochures on safety culture in all the social media sites and in a number of satellite channels, going to schools and universities, and making short lectures on aviation safety culture.
