An extraordinary meeting held on 1st of August 2024 in Sana’a, headed by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works and Chairman of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority- Yahya Al-Sayani discussed the reasons for the delay in the luggage loading for some passengers departing from Sana’a Airport on flight No. (IY646) of the Yemen Airlines.

During the meeting, which included the Authority’s Deputy Chairman- Arif Al-Ashram, the Acting Chairman of Yemen Airlines- Khalil Jahaf, the Authority’s Assistant Deputy Chairman for Aviation Safety Affairs-  Dr. Abdul Hamid Abu Talib, and the Director General of Sana’a International Airport- Khaled Al-Shayef, the report which was submitted by the committee assigned by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works and the Authority’s Deputy Chairman was reviewed and met with the airport director and those concerned with Yemen Airlines to find out the reasons that led to the delay in passengers’ luggage loading and find radical solutions to the problem.

During the meeting, issues related to providing fuel for the aircraft and accelerating the operation of additional urgent flights were also discussed to alleviate the suffering of the Yemenis, especially patients who need to travel to receive treatment abroad.

At the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works stressed on the need to redouble efforts to improve performance and avoid any problems related to delayed luggage, and that the necessary measures shall be taken to deliver late luggage, pointing out to the keenness of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, the Civil Aviation and Yemen Airways to provide the best services to passengers ... noting that The Yemeni Oil Company was contacted to provide fuel for the aircraft and begin operating additional emergency flights to ease the increasing demand for travel.

The meeting was attended by the Director General of Air Transport at the Authority-  Dr. Mazen Ghanem, and the Assistant Director for Security Affairs at Sana’a International Airport-  Jarallah Al-Hamzi, and a number of specialists from the Authority and Yemen Airways.
