Al-Rahawi Inaugurates Awareness and Training Programme for Combatting Corruption in Ministry of Transport

Corruption in the Ministry of Transport that was organized by the National Supreme Authority for Combatting Corruption and the Ministry of Transport aiming at enhancing transparency, honesty, combatting corruption and preventing it in the Ministry of Transport and its affiliated authorities and corporations. Mr. Al-Rahawi stressed on the importance of submitting the financial covenants declarations by the State’s Supreme Authorities Leaderships to the Authority of Combatting corruption; pointing out to the importance of applying the principle of “ From Where You Got This?” and the principle of reward and punishment for the sake of a country free of corruption. He also indicated to the importance of collective awareness, stressing on the importance of reliability and objectivity in addressing the issues of corruption.         

He drew the attention to the importance of benefiting from the qualified cadres of the country and assigning the right person in the right place away from any narrow belongings. He stressed on the importance of adherence to the Laws and to provide sufficient protection to the workers of the Authority of Combatting Corruption and the Central System of Control and Accounting to ensure executing their assigned roles in a good manner.

On his side, Mr. Mohammed Hussein Al-Aidarous- President of Shurra Council considered that this Programme stressed the range of strong connection between the different systems for the sake of combatting corruption; urging the different ministries and authorities to enhance the awareness against all forms of corruption expressing his hope that the Supreme Political Council will resolve the interventions between the work of the Authority of Combatting Corruption and the other control systems. He also stressed the support of the Shurra Council to the efforts of Corruption Combat Authority to rectify the current conditions and drawbacks; stressing on the importance of collaborating the efforts of all for the sake of a country free of corruption.           

In the meantime, the Vice Prime Minister for Security and Defense Affairs- General/ Jalal Al-Rowaishan clarified that corruption became a social phenomenon. He said: “if the issue of combatting corruption does not turn to be a public issue and a religious commitment from the official and the citizen, this phenomenon will not come to an end.” He stressed the commitment of the Government to combat corruption; calling upon the all to respect the independency of Judgment in all the issues of combatting corruption. He also pointed out to the efforts of the Corruption Combat Authority and the Ministry of Transport in organizing the national events for the sake of combatting this serious phenomenon. In turn, Dr. Mohammed Al-Ghashm- Chairman of Corruption Combat Authority talked about the contents of this programme clarifying that its outputs will be prototypical and objective.       

He also clarified that the programme contains executing three Awareness Seminars; every Seminar contains four basic axles targeting about 450 employees and three TOT training courses in combatting corruption and Rational Administration for 90 employees of the Ministry of Transport and 10 employees from the Authority. The programme also includes two training workshops for enhancing transparency, honesty and combatting corruption targeting 100 employees of the Ministry of Transport and its affiliated authorities and corporations, in addition to a training course in boosting transparency in the works of tenders and purchases of the State for 70 trainees from the financial affairs, accounting, purchases and tenders’ committees. 6000 copies for three awareness and introductory brochures will be printed and 3000 copies of awareness posters will also be printed. Three TV flashes will be produced and broadcasted in the satellite channels and two TV seminars will focus on the aspects related to the partnership between the parties of the National Honesty Organization and the society in combatting corruption. He added that the programme will continue for three months starting from now until the 9th of December 2020 coinciding with the World Day of Combatting Corruption.                

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Authority of Combatting Corruption praised the interaction and interest of the Ministry of Transport leadership to enhancing the awareness efforts, transparency and honesty values, combatting corruption and prevention of its risks.   

H.E. Minister of Transport stressed on the importance of executing such programme to enhance transparency, honesty and combatting corruption in the Ministry and its affiliated authorities and corporations in order to boost the transport sectors to keep up with the future ambitions. He mentioned that the programme contained several activities and events represented in conducting awareness workshops, seminars, training courses and consultative meetings to manifest and build partnership bridges between the Ministry of Transport and the National Supreme Authority for Combatting Corruption. He also pointed out the Ministry of Transport by its sectors, authorities and corporations were preceded amongst the other ministries and governmental institutions in executing the programme with the cooperation with the Authority of Combatting Corruption and applying its outputs and recommendations on the practical, technical, administrative and financial reality. He added that the programme is targeting 450 employees of the Ministry and its affiliated authorities and corporations and will work to overcome the corruption in the future. He also said: “the Ministry of Transport is seeking to manifest the fundamentals of partnership in the efforts of enhancing transparency, honesty and combatting corruption as an execution to the instructions of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council.         

During the inauguration ceremony that was attended by a number of members of the Parliament and Shurra Councils, members of the Authority of Combatting Corruption, leaderships of the Ministry of Transport and its affiliated authorities and corporations and representatives from the Control authorities, the General Lawyer of the Public Funds- Judge/ Mujahed Ahmed Abdullah praised the partnership between the Authority of Combatting Corruption and the Ministry of Transport in enhancing the transparency, honesty and combatting corruption that is destroying the present and future of the country. He also stressed that the General Attorney is a basic partner in the National Honesty Organization since it works to preserve the public funds.      

The Secretary General of the Supreme Political Council- Dr. Yasser Al- Hori talked about the Technical Unit of Following up and Executing the National Vision and the successes achieved within the frame of combatting corruption and building the institutions calling on the society to provide their views about the partnership in combatting corruption and executing the National Vision. He also considered confronting corruption and enhancing transparency and honesty as values that the administrative leader and official should have in hand before it will be written points in any vision or executing any work. Stressing that all of us should follow the principles of honesty, transparency and combatting corruption for the sake of respecting the country and the sacrifices of the martyrs.   

After the inauguration, Mr. Ahmed Al-Rahawi- Member of the Supreme Political Council together with the Vice Prime Minister for Security and Defense Affairs- General/ Jalal Al-Rowaishan, Chairman of the Authority of Combatting Corruption- Dr. Mohammed Al-Ghashm, Secretary General of the Supreme Political Council- Dr. Yasser Al-Hori looked at the work mechanism of the Information Center of the Ministry of Transport and the services provided in the fields of land, marine and air transport by modern methods to keep up with the world developments. They expressed their appraisal for the contents of the Center; praising the interest of the Ministry of Transport’s leadership to cope with the current developments to enhance and develop the different transport services.
